Stolen Childhood

A obra Stolen Childhood, que em português significa infância roubada, foi inspirada na imagem que apareceu na mídia mundial de Aylan Kurdi, o garoto sírio encontrado sem vida, em uma praia na Turquia, vítima de afogamento. Essa imagem virou um dos simbolos da crise migratória, que já matou milhares de pessoas do Oriente Médio e da África que tentam chegar à Europa para escapar de guerras, perseguições e da pobreza. A obra é composta por uma estrutura de polyester transparente, preechida com  brinquedos que foram literalmente abandonados e jogados fora por crianças do país da artista, a Espanha. Aparentemente um brinquedo inocente com peças coloridas que se colidem, que visa despertar uma sensação de desconforto em quem se aproxima.


Stolen Childhood comes from the image that appeared in the world media of Aylan Kurdi, the Syrian boy found lifeless, on a beach in Turkey, victim of drowning. This image became one of the symbols of the migratory crisis, which has already killed thousands of people in the Middle East and Africa who are trying to reach Europe to escape wars, persecution and poverty. The work consists of a transparent polyester structure, filled with toys that were literally abandoned and thrown away by children from the artist's country of origin, Spain. The apparently friendly appearance of the colorful pieces collides with their shape, which is intended to awaken a feeling of discomfort in anyone who approaches.
