Declaração do Artista

No centro da minha prática está o interesse no desenvolvimento da consciência. Isso me leva a um fascínio pelo interconectividade das coisas - o jogo entre forma e ausência de forma, transitoriedade e quietude, imaginação e percepção. Minha pesquisa aborda aspectos esquecidos ou negligenciados do self, como o sentimento primordial de estar em seu próprio corpo, em um momento em que estamos expostos à maior quantidade de informações externas da história. A natureza e sua contemplação são um tema recorrente, apontando para além da realidade conceitual. Eu emprego vários meios de comunicação, de desenho e pintura a fotografia, vídeo e instalação.

Biografia

Matteo Rosa nasceu na Itália em 1978. Vive e trabalha em Malmö, Suécia. Rosa é bacharel em Tapeçaria pelo Edinburgh College of Art e mestre em Belas Artes em Artes Visuais da Malmö Art Academy. Seu trabalho foi exibido no Galleria Civica, Trento (IT), Galleri S: t Gertrud, Malmö (SE), Sjöbo Konsthall, Sjöbo (SE), Galleri Ping-Pong, Malmö (SE), The Boiler Room Gallery, Oslo (NO), Galleri Arnstedt, Östra Karup (SE), Skånes Konstförening, Malmö (SE), E:vent Gallery, Londres (GB) e Krognoshuset, Lund (SE). Nos últimos anos, Rosa também trabalhou com projetos pedagógicos, principalmente em colaboração com Malmö Konsthall, onde ministrou workshops criativos para crianças e adultos, bem como para grupos com necessidades especiais. O trabalho do artista está presente em várias coleções públicas, como o Malmö Art Museum (SE), a City of Lund Art Collection (SE), Northern Norway Art Museum (NO), KORO / Public Art Norway (NO) e Holanda Instituto de Som e Visão (NL).

Artist’s Statement

At the core of my practice is an interest in the unfolding of awareness. This brings me to a fascination for the interconnectedness of things – the play between form and formlessness, transience and stillness, imagination and perception. My research addresses forgotten or neglected aspects of the self, such as the primal feeling of being in one’s own body, at a time when we are exposed to the largest amount of external information in history. Nature and its contemplation are a recurrent theme, pointing beyond conceptual reality. I employ various media, from drawing and painting to photography, video and installation.

Biography

Matteo Rosa was born in Italy in 1978. He lives and works in Malmö, Sweden. Rosa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Tapestry from Edinburgh College of Art and a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts from Malmö Art Academy. His work has been shown at Galleria Civica, Trento (IT), Galleri S:t Gertrud, Malmö (SE), Sjöbo Konsthall, Sjöbo (SE), Galleri Ping-Pong, Malmö (SE), The Boiler Room Gallery, Oslo (NO), Galleri Arnstedt, Östra Karup (SE), Skånes Konstförening, Malmö (SE), E:vent Gallery, London (GB) and Krognoshuset, Lund (SE). During the latest years Rosa has also worked with pedagogical projects, mainly in collaboration with Malmö Konsthall, where he facilitated creative workshops for children and adults, as well as for special needs groups. The artist’s work is held in various public collections, such as Malmö Art Museum (SE), the City of Lund Art Collection (SE), Northern Norway Art Museum (NO), KORO / Public Art Norway (NO) and the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision (NL).
